Abstract:
The aim of our retrospective study was to investigate the efficacy and features, of long-term therapy of canine atopic dermatitis based on the owners observations. Twentytwo dogs were randomly selected of those atopic dogs which were diagnosed and treated by the dermatology consultation of the Department and Clinic of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Szent István University, Budapest between 2010 and 2014. Beside the efficacy of the most commonly applied therapies (like allergenspecific immunotherapy, corticosteroids, antihistamines, cyclosporine, essential fatty acids, hypoallergenic shampoos, topical antipruritic agents, nutritional supplements, immune response boosters and alternative medicines) the dietary management, and the housing conditions were investigated, too.
